"As of 2015, Nigeria is the world's 20th largest economy, worth more than $500 billion and $1 trillion in terms of nominal GDP and purchasing power parity respectively. It overtook South Africa to become Africa's largest economy in 2014. The 2013 debt-to-GDP ratio was 11 percent. Nigeria is considered to be an emerging market by the World Bank; it has been identified as a regional power on the African continent, a middle power in international affairs, and has also been identified as an emerging global power." -Wikipeid

Regulations & Restrictions:
If you are sending messages to Nigeria, there are a number of factors you need to keep in mind. Most importantly the implementation of a DND (Do Not Disturb) features for subscribers who do not want to receive unsolicited SMS messages and phone calls.
Volume regulations also exist for Nigeria. Sending multiple messages to the same address on the same day is not recommended as these messages may be blocked. Nigeria's major mobile operators have split traffic into two categories:
Banking Traffic |
SMS messages from banks about transactions. These messages are always sent and delivered. |
Promotional Traffic |
This covers all other traffic even if it is transactional, but excludes banks. For example, a thank you message following an online purchase. Messages in this category are only sent at certain times of the day. |
Messages that originate from a Nigerian Number are very likely to be blocked. The networks have stated that they prefer to receive an Alphabet Sender. Although we have not yet seen any problems sending from an international number, we do advise to use an Alpha Sender in the FROM field.
There are no additional content restrictions beyond those in our Service Usage Policy.
Note: It is important to abide by all restrictions imposed by the hosted country.
